Tigers U14 Boys Magnificant against Mulroy

The Tigers U14 Boys headed into the game knowing that they had to win against Mulroy, who fresh off a win against Star, equally needed the win in the race for 2nd place in the league. The opening period set the standard for the game, with the teams very closely matched, however it was Mulroy and 14 who led from the off to help Mulroy to a 13-9 lead at the end of the 1st period. Going into the 2nd period, both coaches changed all five, however it was the Tigers who settled quicker and with Mulroy giving up a number of free throws, the Tigers capitalised and turned the game round with Tigers now leading 22-21 at the end of the period. Into the 3rd and the Tigers got off to a flyer with a number of quick scores to open up a gap, however Mulroy worked their way back into the game to close the gap to 3 by the end of the period. The 4th period was very tense, with both teams failing to score with a number of simple layups as nerves started to kick in. With emotions running high on court and the benches with the clock running down, Tigers held a 3 point advantage, however Mulroy kept battling and scored 2 with 1.5 seconds left, however Tigers held on to take the win and a valuable 3 points in the hunt for 2nd place.
