Tigers U16 Girls - a game of two halves

10 Dec 2017 by John Kennedy

Tigers U16 Girls took to the court against Phoenix, the top two teams in the League, both unbeaten so far. In a terrific 1st period of great basketball, the lead changed several times, some great fast breaks from the Tigers and 3 point shooting allowed the Tigers to finally establish a 22-17 lead at the end of the period. The 2nd period was more of the same, which Phoenix just edged and the Tigers held a narrow 33-32 lead. Into the 3rd and Phoenix changed their defence which allowed them to get on top of the Tigers restricting the Tigers to just 7 pts while scoring 14 of their own to hold a 46-40 lead at the end of the period. Into the 4th and Phoenix defence continued to dominate the Tigers offence, forcing the Tigers into long range shooting and Phoenix used this to spring multiple fast breaks to score easy baskets and stretch their lead and take the game 61-45. No doubt the Girls will be itching to get back on court for their next game and put this one behind them. Plenty of more games this season.
